Dr. Shams Ragheb Warns: Men Imitating Women... A Curse That Expels from Allah's Mercy and Destroys the Innate Nature!

At the core of the human innate nature upon which Allah has created mankind, lie clear features that distinguish between men and women, in their composition, creation, and attributes. Allah Almighty has created man in the best form, bestowed upon him a complete image, distinguished him, honored him, and preferred him over many of His creation with a [clear] preference. He specialized man with attributes that suit his composition and innate nature, and adorned woman with attributes that suit her nature and innate disposition, and placed a barrier between the attributes of the two genders; lest one transgress against the attributes of the other, or one category encroach upon the attributes of another.

And indeed, among the ugliest and most dangerous matters is that a man abandons the attributes of his manhood, denies his masculinity, inclines towards the tenderness and femininity of women, and wears clothes that are only appropriate for them. This dangerous phenomenon carries within it a severe warning in Islamic law, has negative psychological and social effects, and represents a regression from the sound innate nature upon which Allah has created mankind.

Indeed, the forbidden imitation is the deliberate intention thereof, and that everything that is exclusively for women according to Islamic law or custom, and does not contradict Islamic law, is forbidden for men, and vice versa. Allah Almighty has said: "$So fear Allah as much as you are able$" (At-Taghabun, verse 16), meaning fear Allah to the best of your ability and strength, and this is a general principle.

Thus, the imitation of men by women and vice versa is unlawful, indeed a major sin among the major sins, for Ahmad, At-Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, and Ibn Majah have narrated sound hadith on this matter. It is also established in the two Sahihs (Al-Bukhari and Muslim) from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) who said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "$When I command you with something, do as much of it as you are able, and whatever I forbid you from, then avoid it$."

Al-Bukhari (5885) narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) who said: "$The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the men who imitate women and the women who imitate men$." And from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: "$The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the man who wears the dress of a woman and the woman who wears the dress of a man$" (Sahih An-Nasa'i). Thus, the imitation of each other by them is a departure from the guidance of Islam and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).

Whoever imitates women is cursed by the tongue of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the forbidden imitation is that which relates to the specific characteristics of each of them that differ from the other, and not the imitation in goodness, righteous deeds, blessings, and good morals.

Indeed, the word "curse" that is mentioned in the hadith implies expulsion and banishment from the mercy of Allah, and that whoever does not accept the creation of Allah Almighty has followed Satan who swore and said: "$And I will mislead them, and I will arouse in them [vain] desires, and I will command them so they will slit the ears of cattle, and I will command them so they will change the creation of Allah$" (An-Nisa, 119). Therefore, it is obligatory to be extremely cautious against imitating women, for the curse is only for a forbidden act.

**What are the reasons for men imitating women and vice versa?**

The underlying reasons for cases of men imitating women and vice versa can be summarized as: disturbance and absence of religious deterrents and distancing from religion, incorrect methods of upbringing, absence of guiding roles, the negative role of satellite channels, the internet, modern and advanced technologies, as well as paying more attention to males than females, and the desire among young people to imitate and adopt another personality.

**What is the treatment for the phenomenon of men imitating women?**

Allah Almighty has said: "$Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best$" (An-Nahl, 125).

* Connecting youth with role models, and among the best role models are the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), his companions (may Allah be pleased with them), and the imams and scholars of the Muslims.

* Working to teach young people the rulings of the Islamic religion, renewing hope in their souls, sharpening their ambitions, and guiding them to the path of truth and righteousness, and paying attention to the educational aspect in schools and universities.

* Families, society, educational institutions, and mosque imams must pay attention to this danger that leads to the emergence of weak generations lacking a strong and constructive personality, for some want to destroy this nation by weakening the personalities of its children and their inability to defend the homeland and bear responsibility.

* Instilling a spirit of pride in manhood among young men and working to teach them the rulings of the Islamic religion, "$If faith is lost, then there is no security... nor a world for one who does not live by religion$."

* Clarifying the correct meaning of the concept of freedom, and that it does not mean, in any way, licentiousness or violating the rulings of Islamic law, and tightening control over moral violations.

* Teaching young people how to benefit from others by taking the best morals and deeds from them.

* Providing treatment and psychological and social care for all who need it. May Allah Almighty protect our youth and the youth of the whole world from all evil, for He, glory be to Him, has power over all things.

"$Exalted are You; we have no knowledge except what You have taught us. Indeed, it is You who is the Knowing, the Wise$."

And may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and companions altogether.
